Some of the services I offer are: tracking, mixing, producing, mastering, editing (Pro Tools/Nuendo/Wavelab/Sound Forge/Acid/Sonar), live band recording, vocal production, all live instruments, complete song programming, arranging, beat-making, CD copying, and just about any other aspect of audio engineering imaginable… and maybe some that are unimaginable… and maybe even occasionally unspeakable.

At Studio Ray you will have the option of recording with Pro Tools or Steinberg's flagship program Nuendo (the big-brother to the better-known Cubase) Unliike many other programs, Nuendo has the advantage of unlimited tracks – songs containing 100 tracks or more are not uncommon.

A Word About Vocals:
As musicians, we all love our slammin’ beats, loud guitars, thumping basses etc., etc., but in the end the most important part of any song, the part that the listener hears and identifies with most, is the vocals. Vocal production is one of my strongest areas of expertise – I can completely coach you vocally, if you so desire, and help to produce/arrange/create all vocal parts and harmonies. Artists who have had tracks created at other facilities are sent to me by their record companies to finish the tracks and record the vocals on their songs solely for the quality of my vocal production.

Mastering
I use digital tools for mastering, including Universal Audio's UAD1 tools, and Steinberg's mastering suite. A lot of people though are still unclear about exactly what mastering is. If you have questions about this stage of the recording process, please feel free to email me or call me with your questions. Simply put though, mastering is the final tweaking of the song, after it has been recorded and mixed, to give it as much acoustic punch, sparkle and volume as possible, as is appropriate for the particular musical genre and particular collection of songs.

Production
My producer skills are many and varied, they include such things as Pop arrangements, Rock production, Hip-hop, acoustic recording, all vocals, string arrangements, and a lot of other things in between. But they do NOT include every possible musical type and style. Additional Musicians

Additional musicians for your project can be provided for an additional cost (depending on the musician). I personally know dozens and dozens of players in the NYC area and can easily hire the right musicians to get the sound you want. Any instruments which I play myself - guitar/keys/bass/drum programming - are provided at NO additional charge.

Mixing Tracks From Another Studio

Recording and Mixing are two completely different arts. Some studios provide excellent recording abilities, but are lacking in producing a mix that is of major-label quality and can compete on the radio. If you have tracks that you recorded at another studio and need a "WOW" mix, I can provide that for you for almost any genre of music - provided that the original tracks are properly recorded.
